IRIS (ISO/TS 22163 since 2017) offers a common auditing protocol for railway suppliers

The Association of European Railway Industries (UNIFE) developed the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) as a benchmark, globally recognized method for evaluation management systems. Since 2017, IRIS became a part of the quality standard ISO 9001 aimed at the specific requirements of the international railway industry. IRIS is intended to increase cost efficiency by offering a high level of transparency and objectivity in the process of management system auditing. Under the IRIS Certification, railway equipment and rolling stock systems in any production site must reach a specific quality criterion.
