2 BRT feasibility studies for Algiers

Transurb realises two feasibility studies for new Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRT) in East and West Algiers.

Context

The Ministry of Civil Engineering and Public Transport in Algeria wishes to strengthen the urban transport system in the East and West of Algiers by two BRT.

The Eastern line will serve the Grand Mosque, the new recreation water parc in the Algiers Bay and the Houari Boumediene Airport. The Western line will meet the population’s increasing needs for urban transport solutions in this area.

Transurb Mission

Transurb will carry out the necessary feasibility studies in order to implement 2 Bus Rapid Transit Systems. These will address the following topics :

  • diagnosis and evaluation of the situation
  • study of the reference route
  • evaluation of the infrastructure and choice of the rolling stock for the selected variant
  • financial and economic evaluation of the project
