Two of Transurb’s engineers are mobilised to assist Alstom in the preparation of the certification files to be addressed to the NoBo of ETCS interoperable constituents in Belgium.
CONTEXT
ETCS constituents produced by Alstom, both on-board and trackside, must be submitted to the independent assessment of a Notified Body in order to be certified before marketing in Europe. Those certifications are to be delivered by a NoBo which states on the ICs based on the proof that the ICs responds to the TSI and the essential requirements. Alstom must deliver a folder of proofs that this ICs corresponds to the TSI in order for the NoBo to deliver the certification. It is the responsibility of the homologation engineer to prepare this folder and present it to the NoBo.
TRANSURB MISSION
A long-term half-time resource is put at Alstom disposal for taking over the coordination of the IC certifications.
In parallel to the exchanges with Belgorail, the coordinator’s tasks include workload management and certification planning with the goal of fluidifying the load peaks and optimising the assessment process, participation in weekly meetings in order to monitor the ICs releases, management of just-in-time activities and priorities.
The coordinator will also give support to the certification staff and to the projects, as well as during quality audits, in alternance/collaboration with the current certification manager. This implies communication management, internal synchronisation and keeping abreast of the EU legislation evolution.
